THE NSW Government's Environmental Trust has awarded the Big Scrub Landcare (BSL) a $249,000 grant on the organisation's 20th anniversary.
The money awarded will be used to restore critically endangered lowland rainforest in Northern New South Wales.
The grant will provide funding over a six-year period to control weeds in rainforest sections of the Nightcap National Park and an adjoining area.
Work will concentrate in the former Minyon Falls Nature Reserve and the Big Scrub Flora Reserve.
At 170ha, the reserves are the largest remnant of the Big Scrub rainforest that prior to European settlement covered 75,000ha.
