A 44-year-old Lismore man has been charged with cultivating and possessing a prohibited drug as well as possessing prohibited weapons after police searched a home on Riverbank Road, Gundurimba, early on Tuesday morning. Police seized 20 cannabis plants, 950 grams of cannabis leaf, a replica pistol, slingshot and baton. The man has been bailed to appear in Lismore Local Court.

Police issued 15 move on directions to numerous young people in the Alstonville area on Saturday night and Sunday morning after complaints from residents. The youth were aged between 13 and 20 years old, and police allege most were affected by alcohol and their behaviour was anti-social. A 15-year-old female was found to have a prohibited drug in her possession.

A 29-year-old Lismore female has been charged after a business was broken into in Goonellabah around midnight on Sunday. Police located the female in Phillip Street, Goonellabah, around 1am. She allegedly still had stolen goods in her possession.

Police are appealing for information from the public after a 30-year-old Irish tourist was found with significant head injuries at Byron Bay in the early hours of Sunday morning.

When police arrived on the scene on the corner of Jonson and Lawson Streets, several people were trying to help the man, who was taken by helicopter to a Brisbane hospital and remains in a critical condition in a coma. Police have been told several males were involved in a fight with the victim and a number of people are believed to have witnessed the incident but have yet to speak with police. Police are urging anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
