Those winning country ways

Lee Kernaghan looked a bit overwhelmed when he won Aussie of the Year for his work with rural Australia and his virtuosity with an American music genre.

Country music fans will be in for a treat next Thursday, May 15, when Lismore hosts three of the biggest names in Australian country music Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley and Tania Kernaghan together in one big hoe-down at Lismore Workers Club from 8pm.

For Lee Kernaghan 2008 is certainly a year worth celebrating. Not quite 24 hours after being named Australian of the Year, Lee collected three Golden Guitar trophies in the 36th CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia for his bush charity anthem Spirit of the Bush.

That same night Troy Cassar-Daley was almost reduced to tears when he was awarded the highly coveted Male Artist of the Year Golden Guitar for Everythings Going to be Alright from his album of the same name.

For Tania, 2007 and 2008 have been big years, with her hit Life Dont Get Much Better Than This spending a total of 19 weeks in the Country Top 30 Singles Chart.

All three artists are winners from the annual CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia. Lee now has 27 Golden Guitars, Troy 14 and Tania four.

Tickets are $47 and available from the club (6621 7401). Yeeha!
