Teven Golf Course cabins approved

The Teven Valley Golf Course will soon be able to accommodate touring players and holidaymakers after Ballina Shire councillors unanimously approved five upmarket holiday cabins last week.

Owners Greg and Patrice Allman successfully sought Ballina Shire Council approval for a major upgrade of the popular local golf course at Eltham Road, which included demolishing an existing managers residence and building the five cabins.

Mr Allman addressed councillors before the meeting, saying the golf course had operated for 30 years and was a valuable asset to the shires sporting and tourism infrastructure.

He said the cabins would complement the existing facility and that many guests had often asked about on-site accommodation.

The cabins would also improve the viability of the course in wet weather, he said.

Cr Margaret Howes said she hated golf and could think of better things to do than chasing a silly little white ball but lots of people love it and you can have a drink and not have to drive home afterwards.
