NSW Minister for Community Services Kevin Greene was in Lismore on Monday to officially open the new Department of Community Services (DoCS) building in Zadoc Street.

The new building has family rooms, where staff can conduct interviews, a conference room and is significantly larger than the former premises in Carrington Street.

DoCS acting manager client services, Lisa Gava, said the fact all staff were now working from the one site meant more effective work practices and better sharing of ideas between employees.

Its already made a big difference, simply with people not having to share desks, Ms Gava said. Theres a lot more room and privacy for clients so when people do need to seek assistance they feel more welcome and comfortable in what can be anxious situations.
