Painting and riding for ageing research

This painting Desert Peas by Margaret E Brown is part of an exhibition called One on the Wall, One on the Floor showcasing her paintings and the sculptural work of Pam Cowgill at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Ballina.

Margaret uses oils, pastels, watercolours and charcoals to create local scenes and outback landscapes plus still life and floral compositions.

Pams pieces in clay and steel explore the female form, echoing its strength and demonstrating balance and equilibrium.

One on the Wall, One on the Floor runs until April 27.

Margaret donated one of her paintings as a lucky door prize at the opening to benefit the Ageing and Alzheimers Research Foundation, whose patron Graham Felton attended.

LATE NEWS: Graham and long time mate John Sinclair will ride around Australia on a 1940 Harley with a side car re-enacting a ride they did in 1958, to raise awareness of, and money for, Alzheimers research. (Brave men for a good cause.) The pair leave Sydney on May 17 and will be in Lismore soon after (barring breakdown...).
