Madame Lash to whip MardiGrass into shape

The first time Madame Lash (pictured) visited Nimbin was in 1997.

The Sydney socialite, artist and bondage queen sought sanctuary in the village after a less than fruitful 1996.

I lost the election (she stood for the Senate with the slogan I might lash arse but I wont lick it), my painting wasnt hung in the Archibald and I got kicked out of Mardi Gras, Madame Lash said. So I stole a love bus and went to Nimbin.

Madame Lash (aka Gretel Pinniger) was in Lismore visiting friends this week she said shes found her spiritual home and has agreed to come back to Nimbin next month to perform at MardiGrass. Shell take to the stage in The Outside Artists Cults adults-only production The Dirty Laundry Show Live on the final night of the festival, to be held May 3 and 4. She also plans to join (or perhaps lead) the colourful rally through Nimbins main street.

Despite a double hip replacement late last year, Madame Lash led this years Sydney Mardi Gras, dressed in a white Cleopatra outfit atop a silver convertible Saab.

Thats why I wanted to come back for this MardiGrass it, too, is a cultural event of great significance, plus I love getting together with gorgeous people, she said. I actually came up to help a friend celebrate getting a new roof, but I felt a second life as a showgirl coming on.

For someone whos made a career out of being revealing, Madame Lash was rather coy about what her role in the saucy R-rated show would be.

I never know what Im going to do until I do it... or until my pendulum tells me, she said. No doubt Ill be dressed for anything and in the mood for a good time.

Madame Lash said more performers are needed to join her on stage at the adults-only show, which is being co-ordinated by Nimbin local Jennifer Bongiorno.

Were looking for performers who are bit out there, a bit politically incorrect, a bit shocking, Jennifer said.

To get involved phone Jennifer on 0428 179 733.
