Crawford claims his fourth gong

Brett Crawford (pictured) celebrated his first year as Hooker League president by capturing his fourth Cricketer of the Year Award on Friday night.

The award is calculated by 3-2-1 scores provided by the umpires throughout the year and kept a secret until the last moment.

I certainly didnt expect it, Crawford said. The thing to remember is its a team game. This is a credit to the Tintenbar guys as much as me. They certainly tell me when to bowl or not. And I give the lower order guys a go when were chasing small totals.

Crawford shared his first Cricket of the Year Award with Rob Parks and Steve Ryan in 1997/8, and won the award outright in 2003/4 and 2005/6. In addition to the big gong Crawford also took out the bowling aggregate (28 wickets) and took the most catches, excluding wicket keepers (10).

Ballina Bears Sam Adam won the run aggregate mug (423), Tintenbar-East Ballinas Phil Dalli took away the batting average mug (85.17), while Cudgen speedster Michael Anderson won the bowling average (11.21). Lismore Workers Club all-rounder Jeremy Cowin won the emerging player (under 21) award.
