Prize for young artists

Angus McDonald is the patron and head judge of a new art prize for young artists. Oranges is an example of his fine work.

Lennox Head gallery Vivid has joined forces with artist Angus McDonald to produce a young peoples art prize: the Elevation Art Prize.

Angus, who has just returned home after a successful exhibition Snort!! at the Tim Olsen Gallery in Sydney, is the Prizes patron and head judge.

This is a fabulous prize to be involved with as young people in this area have so much creative energy, Angus said. They need constant opportunities and encouragement to shine and achieve.

The Prize is open to anybody aged 14 to 21 who lives in the Northern Rivers and the theme for entries is Lasting in your memory.

The prizes for the Elevation Art Prize are big, with a first prize of $2000, a second prize of $700, a third prize of $300 and a Peoples Choice Award prize of a $500 voucher from Ballina Art and Framing.

Entry fee is $20 per artwork and entries close close on July 21. Selected finalists will be exhibited and the winners will be announced at the Prizes opening at Vivid on August 21. For entry forms contact Kirrilly at Vivid on 6687 5500 or kirrilly@vividfineart.com.au.
