Sara and Bernadette do Sibelius and Greig

Sara Macliver and Bernadette Balkus will titillate Northern Rivers audiences with their classical take on Sibelius and Grieg.

Soprano Sara Macliver and pianist Bernadette Balkus, two of Australias most famous classical soloists, will perform at Lismore City Hall next Tuesday, April 8.

The pair will perform rarely heard art songs by Sibelius and Grieg as part of the local Musica Viva series.

Sara is one of Australias most popular and versatile singers, and is regarded as an exponent of the Baroque repertoire in Australia.

Recent CDs include Bach arias and duets with mezzo-soprano Sally-Anne Russell (nominated for an ARIA Award).

Bernadette Balkus has given concerts all over Australia and New Zealand since returning from America in 1997, where she performed and taught for eight years.With her brother Michael Kieran Harvey she formed the highly acclaimed Australian Virtuosi in 1998 and released her first CD The Glass House.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are $35/30/17 and are available from Dymocks in Molesworth Street, Lismore; the ABC Centre in River Street, Ballina; and at the door.
