Raising the roof

Chris Aronsten is one of the performers at the Back to Blue Knob Hall concert this Sunday. The Romaniacs and the Hussy Hicks will also do their respective musical things.

Blue Knob Hall has a leaky roof. Which is not surprising given that its about 80 years old. So the hall folk are holding a Back to Blue Knob Hall concert to raise some money to fix the roof.

Blue Knob Hall is an institution in the Northern Rivers. There have been some brilliant concerts held there over the past 30 years. (And probably before then.)

That venerable old hall has witnessed all the changes in the area.

The concert will feature some very hot, local, but well-travelled, talent. Chris Aronsten with his fiddle, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, fine voice and enormous repertoire of folk favourites and originals has toured with Maddy Prior, Christy Moore and Fairport Convention. He is Mr Entertainer.

The Romaniacs play north coast Gypsy music and many homes on the north coast have one of their albums in their collection. Its Middle Eastern; its original; its dance music.

The Hussy Hicks (Julz Parker and Leesa Gentz) spend a lot of time performing overseas. Great guitar work and harmonies are these gals hallmarks. Theyll give you pleasant shivers with an aural tour of the world.

Thisll be a big night in the time-honoured Blue Knob Hall tradition and it all happens this Sunday, March 30, from 7pm. $15 /8 will get you the show and supper.
