Fund helps build healthy community in Ballina

Excess funds raised from the successful Ballina Shire Healthy Community Futures Fund have been used to provide additional equipment at Ballina District Hospital.

The Ballina Shire Healthy Community Futures Fund was established in late 2006, with a vast number of fundraising activities conducted across Ballina Shire throughout 2007 in an effort to raise monies for new x-ray equipment. The computerised radiology system was installed at Ballina Hospital in December 2007.

Surplus funds have now been used to purchase a cardiac monitor and a Dynamap vital signs monitor for the emergency department at Ballina Hospital while the remainder of funds (around $1,500) will be given to the Ballina United Hospitals Auxiliary.

The Ballina Shire Healthy Community Futures Fund was founded by Ballina Shire Council, the Ballina RSL Club, Ballina RSL Sub-Branch and the Ballina Bowling and Recreation Club.
