Artist Ken Johnson prepares comedian Mandy Nolan for the FEHVA portrait prize festival in May.

In the spirit of the Archies and after the success of last years FEHVAportrait prize festival, coordinator Dee Tipping wentin search of two subjects happy to bare their souls (or indeed their all) for the event.

I was lucky to find two high profile sitters (and artists themselves) who agreed to sit for the event and they are Ken Johnson and Mandy Nolan, who will sit for and judge the two separate prizes, Dee said.The $500 cash non acquisitive prizemonies have been donated by Ken Johnson himself and The Urban Caf.

Ken will be freshly returned from an international artists symposium in Syria to sit for the Bangalow based prize.

The portrait prize sittings mark the start of the FEHVA festival of visual arts on Saturday, May 24, at the Bangalow A&I Hall. The event will run until Sunday, June 1.
