Jumper (M)

Directed by Doug Liman

When I find that elusive genie in a bottle and am granted my three wishes you can forget about world peace! Im asking for the power to teleport anywhere in the world, anytime! Just think, no more security checks or dead boring 30-hour plane flights surrounded by sniffling, screaming kiddies. All you would have to do is imagine where you want to go and youre there! Paige could do it (Im a big Charmed fan) and now in director Doug Limans (The Bourne Identity and Mr and Mrs Smith) new film Jumper, David Rice (Hayden Christensen from Star Wars) discovers he too can jump to any destination he desires and back again.

This remarkable gift is particularly useful when hes strapped for cash. Theres nothing like jumping straight into a bank vault and helping yourself to bags of loot to alleviate poverty!

Living the high life in a gorgeous apartment courtesy of ill-gotten gains, David spends his days surfing in Hawaii and sunbaking on the sphinx before picking up chicks in Londons West End. Not a bad way to pass the time. The only spoiler is someone wants him dead...

If like me youre a fan of the ABCs At the Movies with Margaret and David then you would have seen their scathing review of Jumper. They both gave it a whopping half star each! Dont let this put you off. In my opinion they were way too harsh. As far as sci-fi adventure thrillers go, Jumper has a lot going for it. The action is fast and furious and never lets up. If you are familiar with Doug Limans other films youll know what I mean, and the special effects are fantastic. Just when the film needs a jolt along comes Brit jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell of Billy Elliot fame) to heat things up and his character is terrific. So what if the script isnt Academy Award standard and Samuel L Jackson is wearing a bad wig? This film is aimed at an audience raised on MTV and computer games with a concentration span of three seconds at the most. Theyre expecting flat-out action and blink-and-youll-miss-it editing. Theyll get it and have a ball... j

ust like I did! I thought Jumper was a lot of fun and Ill definitely be in the back row for Jumper 2.

The cast also includes Diane Lane and Michael Rooker.
