Hottentot Carl Cleves will showcase his superb guitar skills and songwriting prowess at Byron Vista next Wednesday.

Byron Vistas recent move to the Byron Bowlo from the Byron Community Centre has proved very popular, so its a good idea to get there early (around 6.30pm) and enjoy Harry Freemans hour of piano while you have a drink and a meal.

The main show starts at 7.45pm and features Carl Cleves, best known as the guitar-playing half of the Hottentots duo.

Carl is appearing on his own, having just released a solo CD (with a little help from his friends) called All Alone. (Aw, sad. Sniff.)

One of its songs, The Rose of Kordofan, captured the Best Lyrics Award from the Australian Songwriters Association last year.

Apart from being a gifted songwriter, he is also a superb musician. Carls distinctive guitar style was learnt from Brazilian players, bluesmen, American banjo players and masters of the Arabic oud.

Azo Bell, maestro of the ukulele and guitar, will also be on the bill.

This is just part of a huge night of musical entertainment next Wednesday, March 12, for the low, low price of $10. Cool.
