Richmond recovers

Surf Life Saving legend Max Sidney, of Lismore, has been fishing in New Zealand recently, where he caught this nice rainbow trout.

The Richmond River is recovering very well from the recent fish kills.

Observations from commercial fishermen show numbers of some species are very encouraging; mullet and bream seem to be in fairly good schools and mud crabs are also believed to be present. Up the river near Pimlico I took the chance of throwing in some bread from the shore and it took very little time for the bream to come around.

On the sandy beach there was evidence of some quite large stingrays that had been lying on the bottom.
