Let the Ballina laughs begin!

Jimbo is funny. And unpredictable. He will headline the Big Gig in Ballina next Thursday.

Jimbo is something of an enigma. Like a modern day swagman, this Sydney-based stand-up comedian spends a good part of his year touring the country performing in comedy clubs of major cities. When hes in country areas, he teaches kids clowning by day and by night hosts The Big Night Out an unpredictable but always outrageous R-rated pub show.

In 1999 Jimbo performed his first stand-up act at an open mic night at Sydneys Comedy Store. Later on that same year he came third in Sydneys Comic of the Year competition. Since then hes gone onto become a headline comedy act right across the country.

Jimbos act can be subtle, observational, interactive or blue depending on what he thinks you want.

In 1994, Jimbo travelled to Wisconsin, USA, to participate in Clown Camp at the University of La Crosse.

From 1997-2000 Jimbo the Clown was the feature act at Sega World, in Darling Harbour, and in 2001 Jimbo performed the first stand-up show for kids at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

Every Jimbo show is different. Jimbo doesnt write the show, he just lets it happen. In essence Jimbos show is a combination of stand-up comedy, circus skills, and extensive crowd interaction.

The Ballina RSLs Big Gig will headline Jimbo next Thursday, February 28, from 8pm. MC is Ellen Briggs and support is Sandy Gandhi. The gig is free.
