Prodigies return for Musica Viva concert

Brierly Cutting plays piano well. Really well. Really, really well. And she will show Northern Rivers audiences just how well when she and trumpeter Nick Hewett kick off the Musica Viva season soon.

Two of the regions exceptionally talented musicians are returning to the Northern Rivers, where they had their early education, to present a showcase of their talents. Thisll be the opening concert in a series of concerts for Musica Viva Lismore a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing top quality national and international artists to the region.

This years program includes concerts by Sara Mcliver (soprano) and Bernadette Balkus (piano), Luminesca (cello and guitar), The Song Company, Ning Feng (violin) and John Chen (piano), and Collusion.

On Sunday, March 2, Brierly Cutting and Nick Hewett will display their awesome talents at Lismore City Hall from 2pm.

Nick Hewett was born in Lismore and now resides in Sydney. Over the last three years, Nick has become one of Australias foremost crossover trumpet players. Nick recently performed a series of concerts in Kyushu, Japan, with jazz pianist Shuichi Nomoto.

For the Lismore concert hell perform works by American composer Eric Ewazen.

Brierly Cutting was born in Tregeagle near Lismore. At age 11, she was awarded her AmusA from the A.M.E.B. and two years later was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, graduating at 18 with first class Honours. Wow.

In 2006 Brierly Cutting was named both the keyboard winner of the Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards and was the recipient of the David Paul Landa travelling scholarship with her performance of Sergei Prokofievs Piano Concerto No. 3.

Subscription to the full series of six concerts costs $180/150 (adult) and $90 for students.

For three concerts of your choice itll cost you $96/78 (adult) and $48 for students. Or if you want to attend any single concert the price is $35/30 and $17 for students.
