Behind the 8 Ball
8 Ball Aitken spent much of 2007 trotting around the globe, guitar (and banjo) in hand. He performed in Los Angeles, New York and Nashville on his first American tour. 8 Ball also completed his third tour of Japan, and did two tours of Fiji. (It takes three hours to tour Fiji...)
He played at major festivals around Australia.
He spent a month in Sydney recording his upcoming album with Garth Porter and then toured the east coast.
He even chatted with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at a Christmas party (suggesting ideas on foreign policy. And swapping drummer jokes.)
8 Ball has been bridging the gap between the worlds of country music and the blues, creating a 21st century Aussie fusion of original roots music styles.
One thing that international touring shows me is that Australia really is a beaut country. Im proud of our Australian culture, and I sing in an Aussie accent, about Australian places and Australian people, the singer said.
