Forum on electricity privatisation

Are you worried about the impacts of the state governments proposal to privatise electricity in NSW?

If you are, then get down to Lismore Workers Club this Sunday, February 17, for a free public forum sponsored by Northern Rivers Greens.

Sydney Greens MLC John Kaye, who will be the keynote speaker, said locals should be very concerned about the plan to sell electricity retailers, including Country Energy, because it would be bad for consumers, electricity-industry employees, the environment and the states economy.

Mr Kaye said public ownership was important because electricity was a core part of the states infrastructure and shifting essential services to the private sector undermined the publics capacity to ensure critical needs were met.

The forum begins at 6.30pm and all are welcome.
