Clayton in fine fettle as Lampe turns it on

Alstonvilles Clayton Fettell and fellow North Coast Academy of Sport athlete, Lennox Heads Joseph Lampe, are in strong contention for national honours after Fettell won the Australian Under 23 Triathlon Championships, and Lampe came in fifth overall in the recent open age Canberra Triathlon.

Fettells career-best performance in heat wave conditions in Perth on Sunday could easily translate into a ticket to the Beijing Olympics.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Lampe ran an impressive fifth overall in an open field at Canberra to open the way for his selection into the Australian team for the World Junior Triathlon Championships later this year.

Lampe has also secured a spot on the development squad of the professional French triathlon team and will travel to France in May to compete in Frances popular Grand Prix series.
