Local baseballer James Linger finished this week in which he signed with baseball giant the Atlanta Braves by being selected in the Australian Baseball Squad bound for the Beijing Olympics.

At 17 years of age, James is the youngest player ever to play for an Australian senior baseball team.

He earned his place in history by topping the batting averages in the nationwide Claxton Shield. James ended up batting 531, better than a hit from every two at bats. A phenomenal effort against Australias best pitchers.
