The heart of art

This artwork by Christine Wynyard is part of her exhibition Its a Heart Thing in Lismore.

Caddies Coffee Shop in Lismore is the venue for Christine Wynyards latest exhibition, which runs until the end of February.

Its a heart thing, the Lillian Rock artist said. Her exhibition, called, um, Its a Heart Thing is based on a great enjoyment of creating images using found objects and mixed media. An ongoing connection to Buddhism and inspiration from the poetry of Rumi, and from other poets like Leonard Cohen, informs most of this work.

One of the pieces, entitled A Heart in Every Path #V has been donated for a silent auction to support the work of the Academy of Root Development (ARD) in Bihar, India.

ARD was established in 2002 and since that time it has established a micro-finance initiative involving over 1500 Indian women. The program brings under-privileged rural women together around the common activity of saving and credit, building self and group esteem, as well as providing practical skills for the women to develop income generating activities.
