A two-year-old Urbenville girl was airlifted by the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter to Lismore Base Hospital last Thursday afternoon after she was bitten twice on the arm by a black snake in her backyard. The toddler is in a stable condition.

A 21-year-old Casino man has been charged with the assault of two police officers and a female nurse after an alleged incident at Lismore Base Hospital last Wednesday morning in which the nurse suffered bruising and lacerations after a heavy fall.

Anti-social behaviour is being targeted by police in the Richmond command. During an operation one night late last week, police targeted Lismore, Casino, Ballina, Woodburn and Evans Head. A number of people were stopped and talked to. Police seized alcohol from some people drinking in an alcohol-free zone and also detained several young people over burglary offences in the East Ballina area.

Two men, aged 20 and 21, were questioned by police over malicious damage in the North Wall and Fenwick Street areas of Ballina early last Thursday morning. Witnesses are asked to phone Ballina Police on6681 8699.
