Drawing people to the markets

Thomas Camus is pretty chuffed about his artwork being selected for the Rainbow Region Organic Markets calendar. And about the markets themselves.

Thomas Camus is nine years old and lives in Lismore Heights. Every Tuesday morning he and his family go to the Rainbow Region Organic Markets held at the Lismore Showgrounds from 8-11am.

I like the fresh food and I like talking to people here. They grow the food, Thomas said. And I love seeing the cows on the way here.

Thomas really likes cows, so it wasnt surprising that his contribution to the market calendar competition was a drawing of a cow.

We had our eighth birthday party last December and decided that we wanted to get children involved in the market with the theme Happy Healthy Land and People, said Margie from the Rainbow Region Organic Markets.

Lots of children exhibited their art at the birthday celebration and the judges chose 12 from various age groups for inclusion in the calendar.

The purpose of the calendar is to remind people that the markets are on every Tuesday. And you can support your local organic producers, Margie said.

The calendar costs $15 and is available from the markets.
