Dunoon rallies against subdivision

Around 180 people turned up for a community meeting in Dunoon last Thursday to discuss the controversial 57-lot subdivision proposed for the village by developer Hardie Holdings.

Dunoon Community Group member Ross McDougall said on the day seven Lismore City councillors met with the community group in Dunoon to hear concerns directly from residents surrounding the proposal.

Ross said he felt councillors had a much better understanding of the issues surrounding the development after physically being on site.

The group was not granted an extension on the exhibition period for the development application (which ends this Friday, February 1) and members are now working towards finalising their submission.

Seventy per cent of the entire adult population of Dunoon turned out for the meeting and opposition to the subdivision was unanimous, said Ross. We are hoping the councillors will support the residents in their fight against this inappropriate development. Its in their hands and now we just have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for more developments.
