Juniors dominate state

The Lennox Head/Alstonville Surf Life Saving Club came in third at the NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships at Port Macquarie over the weekend, thanks to a powerhouse performance by their juniors, who won the junior overall point score.

Abby Clarke, Alana McGoldrick and Mikayla Gray started the surge for Lennox Head/Alstonville on the opening day, winning the trifecta in the Under 13 Ironwoman event.

Abby Clarke followed this up by picking up gold in the Under 13 Board and Board Relay events. Michael Barnett was just as dominant in the Under 14 boys, capturing the Ironman title, while Madison-Blue Beckerleg took out the Under 14 Ironwoman gold medal.

Scarlett Fahey proved herself an all-round star, taking out a rare double by winning the Under 9 Surf Race and the Sprint. She finished just ahead of club mate Hannah Sculley in both events.

The seniors also put in some spectacular showings with Nadi Canning defending her gold medal in the Open Female Surf Race and Kamley Lyndon winning back-to-back Open Flag events.
