Ballinas New Years tennis title

Locals figured strongly in the mixed doubles with partners Dean Watson from Alstonville and Julie Hood from Tintenbar (left) and Ballinas Graham Pitmen and Lyn Wayte making the semi finals of the Ballina New Years Tennis Open.

Lismore young gun Brendan Moore came out second best in the final of the Ballina New Years Tennis Open, going down 6-2 6-4 to 36-year-old Queenslander Mark Draper. Its Moores fourth consecutive loss to Draper. Draper coaches mens circuit player Peter Luczak and is the hitting partner of a host of national and international players, including Moore himself.

The locals fell one win short in the womens division as well with Lismores Ellie Wray going down to heavy hitting Australian Under 16 champion Alice Watter 6-0 6-3 in the womens final.
