Context, text and textile

Textile artist Lucille Martin designed Threaded Connections a large collaborative artwork commissioned by the Lismore Regional Gallery.

It was created by the Lismore and District Embroiderers Group over a two -year period.

The broad form of the Richmond River, made from hand-spun silk, runs across the centre of the work. There are letters reflections on the area from women who have worked on this piece and women pioneers from the region. And maps. And depictions of flora.

Threaded Connections explores our community, its environment and its history.

The artwork is on display at the Lismore Regional Gallery from this Friday, December 7, until January 19.
