Local talent hits big time

With a tight and funky sound, a new line-up and the CD Foundations being launched at the 2007 Blues Festival, Byron Bay based Kurtis and The Elements time has arrived.

One of only four finalists to perform at the Commercial Radio New Artists to Radio showcase (NA2R) in October, 2006, Kurtis has been steadily building a reputation over the last few years as a dynamic performer and a polished singer/songwriter.

Kurtis, whose musical influences range from Marvin Gaye to Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire, said his music was true to how he lived his life.

I write from my heart, he said.

His new dance single Better than the Real Thing has already been featured on MTV Europe with 480 million viewers. MTV have also chosen Kurtis video clip of Better Than The Real Thing for their new phone downloading system.

Kurtis and The Element will next perform at the Byron Bay Blues Festival on Thursday, April 5, at the Hotel Great Northern in Byron on Friday, April 6 (free gig from 7-9pm) and at the Ballina RSL on Friday, April 20 (free gig).
