Raw comedy heat the 2nd

She has three children and a flair for funny. Ellen Briggs has just won the first heat of Raw Comedy for the North Coast. Theres another hilarious heat this Monday.

Byron Bays first Raw Comedy heat went off with a bang at the Bowling Club last week with punchlines flying around the room and 12 talented up-and-coming comics battling it out for a chance at the big time.

The winning comedian was Mullumbimby mother of three Ellen Briggs who was so unassuming she left early to relieve the babysitter and didnt find out that she had won a place in the Queensland semi finals until the next day.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival Raw Comedy director Toby Sullivan was one of the guest judges. He was very impressed with the high quality of the comedy and was blown away by just how polished and promising Ellen is. Ellen has earnt herself a spot in the semi, but who will be going with her?

Byrons second Raw Comedy heat will supply the answer. With over ten comedians lining up to face the challenge, its going to be one hell of a night. Village Idiot (Bangalow Joke Festival) winner, Liam Holm is a favourite for the event, but theres always a comedy surprise with the comedic talent literally busting at the seams.

Raw Comedy heat two is on at the Byron Bowling Club next Monday, March 26, at 8pm.

Tickets are $15/10 and can be booked on 6684 3443. MC for the night is the divine Mandy Nolan.
