Bronzed Aussies

Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Masters surf boat crew (l-r) Paul Kelly, Kris Beavis, Stuart Thomson, Richard Grant and sweep Geoff Marshall.

Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Masters surf boat crew brought home a bronze medal from last weekends NSW State Surf Lifesaving titles held at Cronulla. The local crew beat off home-town favourites North Cronulla to claim the bronze with Mollymook winning the event and South Curl Curl taking out the silver medal.

The race could have been won by any of the six crews which contested the final with each crew turning at the buoys together. However, it was Mollymook and South Curl Curl who caught an early wave leaving the locals to slug it out for third place with North Cronulla. As it turned out, the blokes from Lismore and Ballina proved themselves better rowers.
