Rainbow Posters

A unique exhibition of local poster art from the 1970s to the 1990s titled Rainbow Posters 1973 1994 will be displayed at the Southern Cross University Library Exhibition Space in Lismore beginning next Thursday, March22, and running till April 4.

When the 1973 Aquarius Festival in Nimbin drew thousands of new settlers to the Northern Rivers (which they called the Rainbow Region), they created posters advertising local dances, fetes, markets and concerts. Its a selection of these posters which can be seen in this exhibition.

They were circulated around the Rainbow Region and many people might remember seeing them displayed in shop windows, notice boards, telephone poles etc.
