The jazz View

Theyre back! The View From Madeleines Couch is excellent if you want to boogie to Brazilian beats.

The View From Madeleines Couch is Australias finest Brazilian music ensemble. Whenever they play the Jazz N Blues night in Lismore, they get the place pumping and jumping. Its something to do with those infectious Latin rhythms and a lot to do with the vibrancy of the band whose sound incorporates a very un-Brazilian vibraphone.

In 2004, the groups co-founders Anje West and Kym Ambrose lived in Brazil undertaking extensive music studies.

The group has revitalised the classic Brazilian sounds of the 60s with their distinctive take on the bossa-nova and samba. Their repertoire includes original Brazilian inspired songs with vocals in Portuguese.

The View From Madeleines Couch will play the Rous Hotel in Lismore next Tuesday night, March 20, from 8.30pm.

Entry is $12/8.
