Banned movie reaches the screen

The premier screening of A Place in the Sun will be held tomorrow night, Friday 16 at 7.30pm at the Star Court Theatre. Screened by the Richmond River Historical Society and North Country Flix, the film was commissioned 30 years ago by Lismore Council and promptly banned, apparently for its hippy content. Also showing will be Give Trees a Chance, the true story of the battle to save Terrania Creek Rainforest. Tickets are $10 ($8 conc) available at the door.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
