Share houses for single parents

Following The Echos recent front page story When home is hard to find which highlighted the difficulty single parents can face finding rental accommodation, The Echo was contacted about a new national website launched last week that is designed to link up single parents with similar housing and childcare needs.

SPACE4 (Single Parent Accommodation and Childcare Exchange), contains an online database that lists single parents looking to live and exchange child care with other single parents, thus combining financial and emotional resources and easing some of the burden of raising children alone.

SPACE4 founder and former single mum Sophie Lee said for most single parents the likelihood of knowing another one-parent family looking to move house was slim, and SPACE4 will help facilitate these hook ups.
