Swinging on the verandah

The Lismore Stompers will play their New Orleans jazz next Thursday in Lismore. Also playing is Gypsy funksters Stipsky. A big night of dancing.

Swing is a fundraiser for the Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Arts Centre (we call it the Con) and itll be held on the groovy verandah of the Winsome Hotel in Lismore next Thursday, March 15. Showcasing their musical talents will be some of the Cons teachers.

From that night onwards, on every second Thursday, the Con will be providing the Winsomes live entertainment. These cruisy dinner sessions will include a first set by a teacher and the rest of the evening by the Cons music students.

Featuring on Thursday are The Lismore Stompers - a local New Orleans Jazz troupe complete with a blasting horn section comprising of trombone, trumpet, tuba, clarinet, drums and bass and Stipsky, whose brand of Gypsy funk will feature a guitar set of Django Reindhart music.

This will be no laid back evening of dinner jazz but rather a full-on dance extravaganza.

The music starts at 8pm and entry is $10/8.
