Journey into history

To mark Heritage Week theres a great chance to discover more about the historic Rous Mill area this Saturday, March 10 with two guided bus trips. The morning tour leaves Ballina Tourist Information Centre in River Street at 9.30am and then departs Crawford House, Wardell Road, Alstonville at 10am for a Rous Mill tour, returning to Crawford House for the Revisiting Rous photographic exhibition at 11am, with the bus arriving back in Ballina at 12.30pm.

The afternoon tour leaves Ballina at 1.30pm, Crawford House at 2pm for the Rous Mill tour before returning to Crawford house for the exhibition at 3pm, arriving back in Ballina at 4pm.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Bookings can be made by calling 6628 3925.

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation  Riots of Passage in The Quad  as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
