LeBa shaping as Surftag favourites

Team Le Ba, the 2007 Rip Curl Kirra Teams Champions, with the Eagle Trophy.

LeBa (Lennox Head/Ballina) boardriders are shaping up as a surprise favourite for the Jim Beam National Surftag final at Sydneys Curl Curl Beach this Friday and Saturday.

Led by natural footer Marcus Aboody, LeBa won the Jim Beam Surftag Queensland qualifying round earlier this month and will now take aim at the best clubs from right around Australia.

LeBa continued their sensational form last week by taking out the Kirra Teams title on the Gold Coast which, along with a victory in the upcoming Jim Beam Surftag, would give them an historic treble all in the space of three weeks.

Aboody will be an integral part of LeBas five-man squad in the team event on Saturday, March 3, and will also represent the club in the Jim Beam National Boardriders Cup on Friday, March 2, where he will square off against the open champions from Australias top 50 clubs.

Aboody says his team is primed to take on the countrys best.

We are amped for the final, Aboody said. We have a really good team this year and we are very excited about our chances.
