Country Championship opens in Lismore

The Far North Coast Rugby Open team begins its Country Championship campaign in Lismore this Saturday, March 3, at Maurie Ryan Oval, sporting a monstrously large tight five, mostly from Casino.

The opening round match is against New England, who played a smaller, more mobile pack last year, so coach Karl Lupton is intent on using a compact game plan and dominating possession. Although there is no doubting the dimensions of the Far North Coast pack, the side also has exceptional pace out wide in the form of Tony Buchanan and league convert Brett Cockraine. So expect some razzle dazzle after half a dozen phases.

Far North Coast won their trial match against the Goodna Gladiators last week and feel confident of getting off on the right foot this weekend.
