A 42-year-old Ballina man appeared in Lismore Local Court on Monday charged over the death of his de-facto wife last Friday night in West Ballina. Bradley James Stevens was charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and with the assault occasioning bodily harm of the 37-year-old mother of two small children. Stevens entered no plea and was remanded in custody to reappear on April 24. He was arrested at 1.30am last Saturday at the couples home in Riverside Drive, Ballina. The cause of the womans death is expected to be known later this week when the results of a post-mortem examination is made available to police.

Three youths were arrested and charged after they allegedly used a stolen boat on the river behind Lismore rugby fields on Monday afternoon. Information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

Burglars stole a 45-year-old womans laptop, CD player and CDs when they broke into her home in Ballina Road, Goonellabah, earlier this week. Around the same time, another home in the same street was maliciously damaged. Lismore Police are seeking witnesses and information. Phone 6623 1599.
