Guitar solo

There are strings attached when it comes to North Coast troubadour Chris Aronsten. Apparently he was born with an umbilical C# chord and a silver harmonica in his mouth. Hes playing at Wadeville this weekend.

These days Chris Aronsten spends his time between Europe and Oz. He has become a feature on the folk and festival circuits in the UK over the last few years. Our Chris (he has his home on the North Coast) is obsessed by music and fascinated by its roots and traditions. And the UK is an ideal setting for his journey of musical discovery.

But Chris is home here on the North Coast at the moment and he has an album Venus and the Sun fresh from the CD presses.

Chris Aronsten will be playing songs from his CD plus selected covers and instrumentals when he performs at the Wadeville Store (my favourite venue) this Sunday, February 25, from 4-7pm. Wadeville Store is on the Murwillumbah-Kyogle Road a few kilometres north of Cawongla.

Hell be playing solo but also with his best friends Mr Guitar, Mr Dobro, Miss Mandolin and Mrs Fiddle.

Chris is heading back to Europe soon. (He is especially looking forward to touring Ireland.)

Oh, and the hot chips at Wadeville are better than in England.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
