Play days for Dads now on Sundays

Lismore dads Leo Glass (left) and Richard Newton, with their sons River (left) and Alex, both 2, recently hung out in the sand pit at the popular Dads and Kids Playgroup, which has been operating in Lismore since last July.

Inspired by the playgroups success, the Men and Family Centre is now launching a six-week dads playgroup on Sundays, starting February 25.

The Sunday group will provide an opportunity for men to connect with other dads in a playgroup venue and will cover a variety of education themes including first aid for families, being a friend to your children, healthy diets for kids, accessing local family resources, and fathers collectively skill sharing.

Leo has been attending the Dads Playgroup since it began and said it was great to be able to talk to other dads about parenting.

A lot of playgroups are all women, he said. Not that theres anything wrong with that, but you can feel a bit out of place. Having this group of guys, its really good for the kids and good for the dads.

All fathers with children 0-5 are invited to attend this program. A gold coin donation is appreciated and a morning snack is provided. For further information about both the Sunday and Monday playgroups contact Glenn Bailey on 6622 6116.
