Bearing Witness to soul

Theres a new sound emerging in the southern hemisphere South Pacific dub. Pioneered by New Zealand bands like Salmonella Dub, Trinity Roots and Fat Freddys Drop, the style has been integrated into the soul-dub sounds of new North Coast band The Witness (pictured).

Fronted by Carla Versitano with her emotive voice and with Ben Karsay pounding the skins, the band includes some powerful talent from all over the region. Like Aeron Leslie (Morph), Dan Brown (Mighty Pragmatics), Bodhi Seed (Mystic Beats), Sonia Leeson (Mighty Pragmatics) and Dharma Bradridge.

You can enjoy the heavy dance grooves and soulful vocals when The Witness plays at Durrumbul Hall this Saturday, February 17.

Also performing are Mystic Beats and POB.

The beats start at 8pm. $10 get you in.
