Street music

These guys rock! And theyre celebrating their 20th birthday with a new CD and a North Coast tour.

Bourbon Street was one of the hottest live music acts in Australia during the late 80s and early 90s, rockin sell-out crowds wherever they played.

They called it quits in 93 only to re-emerge with a couple of re-union tours. Then a couple of years ago the rockn roll juices began to flow again through the Bourbon Street crew. This Lennox-based band has recorded a new album (their third) and are doing a series of live gigs on the North Coast to celebrate 20 years of hard rockin.

The new CD Banned for Life is available from their website for $20 or at their gigs for only $10.

Bourbon Street will perform at the Illawong Hotel in Evans Head next Thursday, February 22, from 8pm; at the Beach Hotel in Byron on Friday, February 23, at 9.30pm; and at the Lennox Point Hotel on Sunday, February 24, at 8pm.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
