Sweet sweet sugarcane

Andy Collins comes from up north in tropical Queensland but he sounds like he comes from the deep south in the good ole USA. Hes playing in Ballina this Saturday.

Andy Sugarcane Collins hails from the hot and steamy north of this wide, hard-sweating land, where he learnt his craft as a bluesman. He plays his acoustic guitars hard and his sweet voice has all the trademark emotions of a Mississippi delta singer.

His recently toured the USA where he found his spiritual home (as far as music goes) and this Aussie boy was very well received.

He released his third solo album last year Way Down The River. The Americans loved it.

The production is first rate and the songs are outstanding. Its one of my favourite blues albums of the year so far, said Chip Eagle, publisher of Blues Revue.

Andy Sugarcane Collins will sing the blues and tell some stories at Ballina RSL Club this Saturday, February 17, at 9pm. And at the Nimbin Hotel this Sunday, February 18, from 1pm.

Both gigs are free.
