In our story on Lismore City Councils proposed Goonellabah Recreation Centre (Echo, Dec 21) it was stated that Cr Frank Swientek objected to the 600m2 proposed pool size, because he felt it was not big enough for Goonellabah.

He wanted an Olympic-sized 1000m2 pool instead, the article stated.

While 1000m2 is roughly the same size as an Olympic-sized pool, Cr Swientek would like to clarify that this is not what he is proposing.

I dont want an Olympic-sized swimming pool, he said. Its not feasible. I want 1000m2 of water which would provide an eight-lane, 25m pool, plus leisure water 500m2 of formal pool and 500m2 of leisure water. What were getting with 600m2 is a 40 per cent reduction from what was originally proposed. Its a real insult to a community of 14,000 people to provide such a small pool.

The Echo would like to apologise for any confusion.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
