Shes a Big Joke

Shes the funniest thing to come out of Alice Springs since... well, I dont know what has come out of there. But Fiona OLoughlin is drop-dead funny and will perform in Bangalow next month at the Big Joke comedy festival.

Day two of the Big Joke comedy festival in Bangalow (which runs from Saturday to Sunday, February 9-11) features a show called A Laugh in with OLoughlin which stars Fiona OLoughlin. Fiona is the wife of a Alice Springs dentist and has five children. As well, in her spare time, she has become one of this countrys major comedic success stories.

In her first appearance at the Melbourne Comedy Festival she garnered rave reviews and an invitation to feature at the televised Gala. Fiona OLoughlin was well on her funny way to comedic stardom and this modest, unassuming woman from Alice Springs was being hailed as one of the finest female comics to emerge in ten years.

Laugh in with OLoughlin is on at the Big Joke Comedy Festival on Saturday, February 10, from 8pm and supported by emerging comic talent and mother of two, Jenny Wynter.

Jenny has just returned from a scholarship where she was invited to train at one of the most prestigious comedy venues in the world Second City in Chicago.

She has also has just completed her comedy writing internship with ABC TVs The Glasshouse, where she got to research and write segments for Wil Anderson, Dave Hughes and Corrine Grant. She also got sides splitting at the Woodford Folk Festival Comedy Club recently.

MC for the night is the brilliant S Sorrensen (mother of one) who also recently returned from Woodford Folk Festival where he blitzed the Comedy Debate this year and managed to bring tears to his own eyes with a combination of wily wit and terrible toothache.

Tickets for the show are $35 and available from The Urban in Bangalow (6687 2678), Obsession in Bangalow (6687 1018), Mullumbimby Bookshop (6684 1413), Byron Books (6680 9717), Caddies in Lismore (6621 7709), Bang Thai Express in Ballina(6687 2956) and Sole Shoes and Accessories in Ballina (6686 6895).
