True kindness

Just before Christmas my friend Sue was diagnosed with cancer and does not have much time left. I wrote a letter to the people of Lismore asking if anyone could help in any way, as she had just bought a house and there was building to be done and the gardens needed lots of work.

I am writing this letter to extend my thanks to those businesses and everyday people who donated things such as plants, sleepers and paint to spruce up Sues house. The response was overwhelming.

I also wish to thank a very special lady called Kathy. If it was not for her, none of this would of happened. Even though she and Sue dont know each other personally, Im sure Sue would want to say a very special thank you to Kathy for her kindness.

I would also like to say a big thank you to the Lismore Apex Club for giving their time on Sunday to do the gardens, and also to Sally and her husband from Richmond Sand and Gravel, who donated soil, mulch and much more.

I cannot list everyone, but I wish to send a big thank you to all the people who gave their time and showed true kindness. It gives me faith knowing there are still people willing to lend a hand for free to help bring joy into someone elses life.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
