Famous surf attracts course

NSW Sport and Recreation has teamed up with Surfing NSW to offer an accredited Level 1 Surf-Riding Coaching Course at Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre on March 10 and 11.

NSW Sport and Recreation spokesperson, James Roberts said Lennox Head has a world-renowned reputation for its right point break and has been selected as one of only two regional venues for next years National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).

This is a great opportunity for community members interested in developing their surfing skills further or for those interested in pursuing a career within the surfing industry, Mr Roberts said.

The course will cover the necessary theory components of the NCAS and the Level 1 sports specific requirements of Surfing Australia.

Topics such as basic psychology, surfing injuries and prevention, physical condition, role of the coach, basic instructional methods and much more will be presented through the program.

Pre-enrolment is essential and interested participants are encouraged to enrol early as places are limited.

For further information or to make a booking phone NSW Sport and Recreation on 6618 0400 or visit the website at www.dsr.nsw.gov.au.
